KELTY fighter Connor Law ensured it wasn't an unlucky 13 as he continued his 100 per cent record in the ring.

The Glenrothes Boxing Club star was top of the bill for their home show at the Gilvenbank Hotel, on Friday May 25, and he didn't disappoint the packed audience by securing a sixth-round stoppage against Yailton Neves.

Law, 25, was returning to action for the first time since November, when he enjoyed a comprehensive dismissal of Englishman Alistair Warren on the undercard of a Scottish bantamweight title fight between Ukashir Farooq and Scott Allan presented by Glasgow's St Andrew's Sporting Club.

Since turning professional four years ago following losing a box-off to compete for Scotland at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, the talented middleweight had secured 12 wins – three by knockout – on the spin.

His latest bout was what coach Stevie McGuire described as a "tester" against Manchester-based Portuguese Yailton Neves, who previously has boxed twice at London's O2 Arena and had never been stopped by an opponent.

That all changed when he faced off against Law, however, when, after a cagey opening three rounds, he started to gain the upper hand before securing the knockout win in round six.

Law stated afterwards that the contest was a "really good fight for me", and that it was "good to get the TKO (technical knockout) against a good opponent", and McGuire felt it was a job well done.

"Connor was top of the bill and was boxing a not bad boy from Manchester," he explained.

"It was a tester for him but he stepped up. It took him two or three rounds to get going and, after the third, I asked him to step it up."
