COWDEN have got their hands on an impressive finisher as they go into a stage of the season where they have to start winning games.

Goalscoring has been a problem all season with only Robbie Buchanan hitting the net with any regularity, and it has meant that the Blues have not won a Ladbrokes League 2 game since August.

So in a bid to add to his firepower manager Gary Bollan has signed David Cox, someone he has managed twice before and a player who led from the front as Forfar won promotion last season.

Mr Bollan also managed the striker at Airdrie so he knows what he can do and is hopeful that he can help ignite Cowdenbeath’s recovery plan.

The 28 year-old began his senior career with Kilmarnock in 2008 and went on to play for both Annan Athletic and Peterhead before teaming up with Mr Bollan at Airdrie where the club did well.

When he was looking for someone to lead Forfar’s challenges in League One and League 2 and he went to Cox who did not let him down.

Having been left out of new Loons' boss Jim Weir’s plans Cox asked to leave in the transfer window and after long negotiations with the Station Park club he is now a Blue Brazilian.

He joins Ben Reilly, Jordan Hornby and Aiden Malone as new recruits to help the Blue Brazil push to safety, while impressive midfielder Blair Malcolm has signed on loan until May from Ross County.

Mr Bollan is delighted to get David Cox fixed up: “A lack of goals has been our main problem all season and David is someone who knows where the net is and has scored regularly at every club he has joined.

“Hopefully he can team up with the likes of Robbie Buchanan, Aiden Malone and Cammy Muirhead to help us get the goals we want to move up the table.”
