COWDENBEATH, after a succession of postponements, face a daunting trip to take on promotion chasing Peterhead this Saturday.

And with the weather forecast much kinder it is almost certain that the Balmoor game will go ahead.

The inactivity has brought with it its own problems with the Blue Brazil only managing a training game in three weeks of inactivity.

Saturday's home game with Clyde was virtually counted out by some terrible cold weather on Thursday and Friday at night and during the day and the match was put off at 9am.

But as manager Gary Bollan has made it clear, every game has to be looked upon as one which can help Cowdenbeath boost their points tally.

Looking back to the last time the teams met at Central Park the 4-0 scoreline for Peterhead was a little unkind on the home side.

They lost three goals in the first 20 minutes and from that point on dominated possession and missed a good few chances.

So there does not need to be too much negativity about the hopes of a result at Balmoor if Cowden can defend well in this game.

Said manager Gary Bollan: "It was another one of those situations on Saturday that you knew the game off call was inevitable but the weather seems to be getting better and we should get going with two games this week.

"It is important we start picking up points and while Peterhead have been having a good season it is what we do that is important in this fixture.

"We clearly will need to defend well for they have some dangerous front men but it is also important we look to convert some of the chances we create.

"Working well as a team is what I am looking for and if we can do that we can give Peterhead a run for their money."

Centre-back David Syme will be available for this one after Tuesday night's game getting the go-ahead which strengthens Mr Bollan's hand for the fixture.

With Josh Morris also showing improvement the Blue Brazil should have a full squad available apart from injured 'keeper Joe McGovern.

It is unlikely that the team will show too many changes from the matches against Annan and Edinburgh City which seem so long ago now.

That would mean possibly Jamie Pyper continuing in the centre of defence with Matt McInally at right-back and Kyle Miller, Brad Smith and Blair Malcolm carrying the midfield challenge to the Blue Toon.
