TWO quick fire goals early in the first-half set the Loons on their way to a win at New Central Park, Kelty, on Wednesday, as Cowdenbeath closed their home fixtures for 2017, writes Andy Mullen.

The visitors opened the scoring in 14 minutes when Max AVOLIO got on the end of a free-kick into the box to head home from close range.

Then three minutes later they went further ahead with a long range shot from Josh CHALMERS, which took a deflection off Avolio, on its way into the net.

The Blues, however, had a few chances to get back into the game with a close range Ryan Connelly shot coming off the face of the bar while keeper Otto tipped a Charlie Denton effort over the bar.

The start of the second-half saw Connelly denied once again by the 'keeper while Jordan Garden shot over but it was the Loons who were to get a third goal in 59 minutes when Starkey crossed to the inrushing Kyle CLARK to slot home at the near post.

Cowden then had to play the closing stages of the match with Denton in goal after Blair Penman was taken off after picking up an injury in a collision with one of his defenders with the game being delayed six minutes.

Two minutes into stoppage time the Blue Brazil pulled a goal back with CONNELLY weaving his way into the Forfar box before slotting the ball into the far corner.
