CONNOR LAW'S imperious winning run in the ring continued after he KO'd his latest opponent earlier this month.

The Kelty light-middleweight packed plenty of punches on his return to action against Bulgarian Antonio Petrov on Friday October 6 at Edinburgh's Meadowbank Stadium when he secured a second-round stoppage.

Law, 25, fought on the undercard of Inverness fighter Gary Cornish's attempt to win the vacant British heavyweight title against Sam Sexton, while the Englishman claimed on points.

The Glenrothes Boxing Club star's 11th professional bout had been due to take place in May against experienced Welshman Bradley Pryce – a former Commonwealth champion – but it was axed after Cornish's title fight with Sexton was called off.

After making it 10 wins from 10 fights against Francis Tchoffo in March, Law was aiming to maintain his 100 per cent record and, after making the early running in round one, he took over in the second and forced the referee to step in and stop the contest.

Law tweeted afterwards: "Won my fight last night and made it 11-0. Stopped the fight inside two rounds, happy to get the stoppage win! Onto the next one."

His coach Stevie McGuire felt that his man had "destroyed" Petrov, and commented: "Connor did a lot of work to the body in the first round and then took over in the second. The referee had to step in and, in nine contests, he had never been stopped but Connor stopped him, which is a good thing.

"It'll move him up a few more places in the rankings; before he was about 19 or 20 but he'll go up to about 14 or 15.

"We're still looking to get him a British eliminator in the New Year but we're looking to get him back out soon on the Josh Taylor bill, but we'll have to wait and see."

Taylor, the 2014 Commonwealth Games champion, takes on Miguel Vazquez on Saturday November 11 at Ingliston's Royal Highland Centre and Law's bout with Tchoffo was on the undercard of his Commonwealth Super Lightweight title fight over Warren Joubert.
