COWDEN go to Annan this Saturday in the full knowledge that a win will move them up the Ladbrokes League 2 table.

The Blues had enough chances to win against Clyde but had to rely on a last minute penalty conversion to get a draw, so the creation of these same chances is needed at Annan this weekend.

Annan are two points ahead of Cowdenbeath and Edinburgh City are just one above them so a victory is clearly something that could repair some of the damage done in that run of four games without a goal.

With Berwick in sixth spot on nine, a couple of wins are all that the Blues need to get back into the middle pack of clubs.

Boss Billy Brown was pleased with the way his team came back at Clyde after slipping behind with just 15 minutes left.

He said: “It was a very open game against Clyde and we had a good few chances but when we lost that goal with less than quarter of an hour left it was excellent the way the lads came right back at the home team.

“We should have converted some of our early chances but when the penalty came young Harvey kept his cool and made a good job of the putting it away.

“I felt it was no more than we deserved but that is only one goal in five games so we have to look to up our conversion rate of chances.”

While still in the bottom slot Cowdenbeath can move up the table if they can win at Annan and that will be the boss’s aim as the teams above them all lost.

He is certainly looking for a good result from the trip south: “The Clyde match was typical of many of our games so far this season with nothing really between the sides.

“We have to look to go to Annan and continue to defend the way we have in most of our games and give little away and if we keep creating the chances in the numbers we have been doing we can get the goals which would give us a win which would make a big difference to us.”

Meanwhile Saturday’s draw for the second round of the William Hill Scottish Cup sees Cowden given a chance to reverse the scoreline at the same stage in last season’s tournament with Lowland League East Kilbride drawn to come to Central Park on October 14.

Meanwhile Mr Brown is hoping that right-back Jamie Pyper will be fit for this week’s game after his troublesome ankle injury which has meant pulling Fraser Mullen out of the midfield.

Shaun Rutherford was also an absentee at Clyde but should be OK for this weekend.
