THE new team in charge at Crossgates Primrose are hopeful that some older heads can help them improve on last season.

Alan and Ally Campbell, sons of former Pars player, coach and current Arbroath number two Ian, were appointed as the club's new management team in May after they parted company with previous boss Andy Brown before the end of last season.

Former player/coach Graeme Sawers completed a new-look set-up and assistant boss Ally is confident that securing the services of several experienced players can help the Humbug Park outfit finish higher than last season's 12th place in the South Division.

Goalkeeper Rab Wilson, defenders Matty Christie and Andy McDonald, and forwards Scott Devaney and Stephen Stark agreed new deals at the end of the campaign but Crossgates have secured the signatures of several new arrivals.

Among those are experienced former Cowdenbeath midfielder Mark Ramsay, ex-Lochgelly Albert and Oakley United forward Andy Watt, Hill of Beath Hawthorn midfielder Dale Allan and goalkeeper Ryan Adamson.

Jamie McNeish, who was on loan from St Andrews United, has made a permanent move to Primrose while they've also signed Hawick Royal Albert's former Kelty Hearts and Dundonald Bluebell defender Chris Hughes.

Ahead of Saturday's kick-off, Ally commented: "I played a few games last season to help the club out and we were approached at the end of the season. We're both local guys and the club have got a new committee, who are a bunch of ambitious guys, so it's been great so far.

"It's pretty much a brand new squad; it's more experienced and that's maybe what we were lacking last season. We've brought in some guys who have played senior and Mark (Ramsay) has been great; his attitude is first class.

"We've had a really good pre-season but the only disappointment was Stephen Stark breaking his leg. That was very unfortunate.

"Results-wise we've won every game convincingly. It's not the most important thing but it helps.

"The guys have gelled together and there's a team spirit there. We've not set any targets or are getting too far ahead of ourselves; we'll take it as it comes but everything's been really positive."
