LAST week saw some great games at Lochgelly Bowling Club.

It all started with the Men's League Team picking up 6 points against Lumphinnans on Wednesday night.

This carried over onto the Thursday where the Men's Top 5 secured a 5- 0 win over Aberdour.

The win secured Lochgelly a quarter-final place against Townhill.

On Friday was the visit of Abbeyview in the Top 10 Competition. The games were all competitive and Lochgelly came out 6-2 winners.

Lochgelly now progresses to the semi-finals where they will meet Dalgety Bay.

Jim McGuire won the Single hand, Roy Fox and Jim Gilruth lost in the pairs, Cian Kinnell, Alan Bowers and Alan Scott won the triples and Steven Bowers, Mick Connelly, Willie Glasgow and Len Kerr won the rink.

Saturday was the annual John Gilfillan Triples competition which saw 11 teams battle it out for the title.

The weather didn’t co-operate but it didn’t deter the bowlers from throwing some excellent bowls.

In the semi-finals Rob Wilson, Andy Ferguson and Cian Kinnell faced off against Steven Bowers, Andy Johnstone and Gordon Scott.

A strong performance by Cian’s team seen them advance to the finals.

The other semi-final had Ron McQueen, Jock Burt and Alex Mitchell playing against Alan Bowers, Ann Bowers and Alan Scott with Alex Mitchell coming out on top.

In the final the score was very close with nothing more than a shot difference.

In the final end and facing two shots against him, Cian made probably the shot of the day as he picked the jack clean and ditched it along with his bowl.

Alex had one bowl left to draw close to the jack but came up just short. Cian, Andy and Rob were the Triples Champions. Mr John Gilfillan was on hand to present the awards and give out the prize money.

All at the Club would like to thank John for all his contributions to the North Street Bowling Club. Not only does John sponsor this event but is also the guest speaker at their Burns Supper. It is people like John who help keep the Club going. The members thank him for all his time and efforts.

This week Lochgelly has players going to the Ayr national finals, the Men senior Single hand and a Ladies Rink. Good luck to them both as they fight for the National title.

There are no events planned at the Club this week except internal ties.
