THE 2017 winners of the Gareth Blackadder Trophy is Crossgates Primary School.

The tournament started in 2006 in memory of Gareth Blackadder – a very promising footballer from Lumphinnans who died in a road accident.

In June every year all the primary schools in the Beath High School cluster gather at Lumphinnans PS to play for the Gareth Blackadder Trophy.

Foulford won it in 2016 and Kelty won it in both 2015 and 2014.

This year the tournament was organised by Lindsey Morrice, the Deputy Headteacher at Lumphinnans PS, and it proved a highly popular event.

There was a round robin tournament then a semi-final. Crossgates and Foulford made it to the final with Crossgates winning 2-0.

The Crossgates team was made of boys from P6 and P7 and captained by Blair Sutherland P7.

Schools that played were Lumphinnans, Hill of Beath, Cowdenbeath, Crossgates, Kelty and Foulford.
