THE waiting is nearly over for Cowden-Gelly boxers as they get set to step into the ring in Lochgelly on Friday night.

Glenrothes Boxing Club, whose number include Kelty's pro fighter Connor Law and Lochgelly's Scottish female light flyweight champion Emma McCulloch, are hosting their second home show at the town hall and boxers from Central Fife are set to take centre stage.

In January, a sell-out crowd of 250 packed into the venue for the club's first event in Lochgelly, the first such show to be held in the town for decades.

A total of 15 bouts between Glenrothes boxers and those from across Scotland and England took place and Glenrothes coach Stevie McGuire hailed the crowd afterwards as "outstanding", and said that they would "have no hesitation in doing a show there again".

That will happen on Friday and top of the bill will be McCulloch, who earlier this month lost out to Wales' Lynsey Holdaway on her Scotland debut at the GB Three Nations Championship in Cardiff.

She will fight Lochend's Nasreen Anderson, who she defeated to win the Boxing Scotland 48kg title last month, while another Lochgelly boxer, Bruce Gregory, will make his club debut.

Colin Gravison will also enjoy home town support while there is sure to be plenty of backing for Cardenden's Sam Dick, and Cowdenbeath youngsters Bradley Innes and Rachel Kippen.

McGuire added: "We’re boxing the rest of Scotland so we’ve got people from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Perth, Hawick, Dunfermline, Grangemouth and Broxburn coming. There’s 14-15 bouts on the bill and they’re all good boxers, so it should be a top show."
