LOYAL fans of Cowdenbeath have presented the club with a cheque for £12,000.

At the last home match against Clyde on April 1, the Cowdenbeath FC 100 Club handed over the money to chairman Donald Findlay.

The 100 club, which also sponsored the match, formed six years ago and since then it has helped support the Blue Brazil by donating a total of £53,000.

It was instigated by John Anderson and the sum of money is quite an achievement given Cowden's relatively limited fanbase.

The 100 club has also supported community initiatives and sponsored some of the young apprentice players.

A statement from the board added: "The 100 club really does demonstrate the true commitment of our loyal supporters.

"We maybe don’t have quite as many supporters as we would ideally wish but we certainly have some very loyal and dedicated people backing the 100 club and Cowdenbeath FC.

"To raise £53,000 for the club’s coffers has been an absolutely wonderful effort over these last few years.

"We thank 100 club members on behalf of Cowdenbeath FC and the community which the club serves for the part they are playing in preserving and promoting a club which has been embedded at the heart of Cowdenbeath life for over 135 years."
