KELTY Hearts got back on the East Super League winning trail on Saturday while Dundonald Bluebell recorded another stunning result to beat Hill of Beath Hawthorn.

Meanwhile Lochgelly Albert kept up their quest to put pressure on the South Division leaders.

Carnoustie Panmure 1,

Kelty Hearts 5.

JUST what the doctor ordered for Hearts after their shock defeat at Dundonald.

Kelty went at Carnoustie from the first whistle and took the lead in only four minutes when Stephen Husband found Stuart Cargill who held off two defenders before shooting los into the nect from 16 yards.

But Panmure did not panic and gradually came into the picture and levelled in 26 minutes when the visiting defence failed to deal with a cross from their left and a well placed header gave Kyle Marley no chance.

For a spell Carnoustie threatened to score again but six minutes from the break a typical Cargill goal restored Kelty’s lead. He brilliantly fired a 20 yarder over the ‘keeper when he managed to latch on to the ball in a not at all easy position.

That was the score at the break but six minutes into the second-half Hearts went 3-1 up when a long free-kick into the Panmure box was perfect for Brian Ritchie to power a 10 yard header wide of the ‘keeper.

Hearts were comfortable now and in 71 minutes came a superb fourth. A throw was chested down by Ritchie and Craig Thomson hit is first time from all of 30 yards and the ball flew in to the postage stamp corner of the net.

Then three minutes from time came the fifth when the ball hit the post and bounced nicely for sub Archie Campbell to fire home with the ‘keeper stranded.

It was a good result for Kelty who took advantage of Bonnyrigg Rose not playing to stretch the lead over them to 23 points with eight games more played.

Hearts boss Thomas Courts was impressed with the finishing of his side: “I would say that there were two contenders for the goal of the season from Stuart Cargill and Craig Thomson in the game.

“We knew that Carnoustie would be tough opponents but the lads took a grip of things and created a few really good openings and the finishing was top notch.

“We have games left and our target has to be to win them all to set Bonnyrigg a very difficult target because we know that of all the teams in the league they are the one that can fight successfully on a lot of fronts.”

Dundonald Bluebell 1,

Hill of Beath Hawthorn 0.

ANOTHER fine result for Bluebell who are looking good for a top five finish in the Super League.

The bumpy condition of the Moorside surface meant that a passing game was not going to be easy and really good openings were few and far between.

Bluebell still had defensive gaps to fill but they started the game confidently although it took a fine save from James Lennox to keep out Calum Adamson.

Haws had the better of the possession but Bluebell had a couple of defence efforts from Lewis McKenzie which were no too far off target.

Adamson went close for Hill of Beath again but at the break there were no goals.

The second period saw Haws go close when Colin Wilson fired in a header which might have glances a hand before Aaron Hay went close.

At the other end Bluebell were always capable of hitting the target but when the goal came in 70 minutes it was from the spot.

A long ball seemed to be the defence’s to deal with but Stuart Hall came racing off his line and he clipped Barry Sibanda. The referee pointed to the spot and McKenzie converted to put the ‘Bell ahead.

There were chances for both sides in the closing but no more goals and the result moves Bluebell on to 38 points with four games to go and in a solid fifth place.

The Haws are in tenth spot on 26 points and need another couple of wins to ensure they move clear of any worries about a relegation play-off spot.

Bluebell manager Stevie Kay reflected on back to back home wins over the area’s big two clubs, Kelty Hearts and Haws: “It has been a tremendous fortnight for us with these two wins.

“The pitch was not easy for the teams and the quality of football was not what we would have wanted but I felt that in the second-half we had the bulk of possession and better chances.”

Haws boss Bobby Wilson said: “We really should have been ahead at the interval but in the second-half Bluebell had a lot more of the ball and a mistake has led to the penalty which proved crucial.”

Lochgelly Albert 2,

Livingston United 1.

THE first game at Gardiner’s Park in weeks and another good three point South Division haul for the Berts.

The home team got off to a flier and scored in two minutes when Andy Watt supplied Lewis Elder and the striker cleverly slipped the ball past the ‘keeper.

There was a strange incident minutes later when a clearance hit Watt on the chest and the ball flew just over the bar.

However, this is a much better Livi team these days and on the half hour they were awarded a penalty but the Albert ‘keeper, Lee Wilson, saved the spot-kick well but before the break Elder and John Ferguson had chances to put the hosts two ahead.

Then on the interval whistle a header at a free-kick but Livi level.

The second-half saw the Berts have a lot of the ball and Elder and Stevie Brown both tested the ‘keeper and in 70 minutes the key second goal came when a good home move saw Watt supply Craig Paterson who slotted the ball away.

There were other chances for Albert but the win ensures that they will get a top four finish.

However, if they can beat league leaders Blackburn United at the Tap of the Toun this Saturday it could open a few doors for them.

Pumpherston 4,

Crossgates Primrose 3.

THIS South Division clash was one that Primrose should have taken something from.

They were ahead late in the game but the second top Pumphy rallied to net a late winner.

Pumphy started the game positively and grabbed the lead in 14 minutes and then three minutes later doubled the lead.

Crossgates regrouped and started to come in to the picture and in 21 minutes Stephen Stark reduced the deficit.

They had chances to get level before the break but squandered these and they opened the second period well and again created some good openings.

In 70 minutes Primrose got level when Stark was in the perfect place to net and then five minutes later the visitors went ahead through a fine Liam Devaney finish.

Nine minutes later Pumpherston scored again to level the game and three minutes after that Crossgates’ Carroll received a red card.

Pumphy went at the ten men and grabbed the winner with six minutes to go to leave Primrose on 17 points in 11th place.

Lochore Welfare 0,

Kirriemuir Thistle 10.

A YOUNG Welfare squad found the task of matching the North Division leaders too much for them.

Lochore needed to keep the scoresheet blank for half an hour anyway but when they went behind early on their problems began to mount.

Kirrie had the experienced Bryan Duell in their attack and he was posing all sorts of problems for the Lochore rearguard and he scored a quick brace to put Kirrie on their way.

Goals kept coming despite some brave work by the Welfare defence and they were six clear at the break.

In the second period the visitors continued to create and convert chances and Duell completed a hat-trick as they eventually hit double figures to make it a steep learning curve for the Welfare.
