TWO Central Fife bowlers will be on the green for Scotland next month after being picked for the Home Nations Championships.

Cowdenbeath Bowling Club members Barbara McMillan and Billy Allan are among five Fife bowlers who have been selected by Scottish Disability Sport for the event, which takes place in Newport, Wales from April 21-23.

Teams from Scotland, England and Wales will take part in the championships and the Scots will be seeking to defend the crown that they won on home soil at Kelvingrove, Glasgow, last year.

Allan, who is bidding to be selected for a second Commonwealth Games in succession at the Gold Coast next year, and McMillan will be backed up by four coaches and directors, including Cowdenbeath's Eric McMillan.

A total of 16 players have been selected across the B6, B7, B8, B2 and B3 classes, and within that number are champions from the previous IBD World Championships that were held in New Zealand in 2015.

Scotland are currently ranked number two in the Para Bowls world rankings having finished behind South Africa two years ago.
