SPORTY youngsters in Central Fife were shooting hoops and showing off their skills during the latest round of the Beath Cluster Netball League.

Eight teams of P6/7 pupils from six schools were in action at Beath High School on Wednesday for the second festival of games in the league and with two festivals two go, there's a two-way lead at the top of the standings.

St Bride's and Bellyeoman - who have entered two teams into the league along with Kelty - are in pole position ahead of their fellow schools, which also include St Patrick's, Hill of Beath and Lumphinnans.

A total of 12 matches were played and Leanne Reid, Active Schools co-ordinator at Beath High, said: "It was the second festival in the league and there are two to go. Netball is a big sport in the Beath area and we wanted to have something where people could come together to play. It was really good; all the pupils are playing well and there is a lot of fair play as well which is really good to see. St Brides and Bellyeoman are the leaders but there's still quite a bit to go.

"We have a community class at Beath on a Wednesday at 6.30pm which is open to anybody who wants to play in a club environment as well as in school."
