COWDENBEATH'S BILLY Allan lost his title at the 37th Scottish Carpet Bowls Championships.

The event, organised by Scottish Disability Sport and held in Dundee, saw the defending champ reach the mixed non-restricted final for physically and/or visually impaired bowlers.

Four-time champ Allan won it last year but couldn't bring home the trophy on this occasion, losing 21-5 to Jimmy Restorick from Lothian.

Ten players contested the five section finals and it was still a successful championships for Disability Sport Fife as their representatives contested half of those finals.

Allan, who starred at the Commonwealth Games for Scotland in 2014, was one of 16 players in the Fife squad which brought home one title and four runners-up medals.

All bowlers qualified for the Scottish finals by reaching the final stages of their local championships.

The Fife championships will be held in Glenrothes in November.
