SIX defeats out of the last seven starts is a poor record but the good news for Cowdenbeath is that their nearest challengers at the foot of Ladbrokes League 2 are having the same problems.

It was been an horrific spell for Cowden with only three points out of 21 but still Edinburgh City and Berwick Rangers are only two ahead of them and Stirling Albion one more.

So there is still time for the Blues to sort things out to get away from the dreaded bottom spot but they need to start doing some repair work quickly.

And it will not be any easy thing this week when third top Elgin City come to Central Park.

Cowden have lost their last three home games so they really need to improve on all fronts to stand a chance of ending the poor run.

Saturday’s defeat at Forfar saw the league leaders turn a struggling first-half show around after the referee had to be replaced and half-time lasted 30 minutes.

Once the home side got level the Blue Brazil were struggling but still they had more shots at goal than Forfar over the 90 minutes with eight on target but when they needed goals to get two ahead the just could not achieve it.

Manager Liam Fox has seen some strange things since he took over Cowden but a half hour interval was a first for him.

He said: “We played really well in the first 45 minutes and Dale Carrick took his goal well and he could have had another.

“Then the ref was injured the delay could not have some at a worst time for us for we just wanted to get back out there and get on with it.

“Their 'keeper made a great save and then we lost the equaliser, these small margins make a difference.”

Added Mr Fox: “Once they got ahead they made it hard for us to get back into the picture but their first two goals could have been avoided.

“However, we need to start winning points and while Elgin will be hard opposition we do have the attacking options to pose teams problems. We have to keep up our belief and keep sticking together

“Dale Carrick looked sharp on Saturday and I feel we can get goals from him but we have to try and bolt the door at the other end.”

Carrick is a former Kilmarnock and Hearts front man is on loan from Livingston.

He will be in the squad for this weekend and there are no injury problems apart from Kenny Adamson.
