COWDENBEATH will have two young players in their squad to bid to move away from the danger zone in Ladbrokes League 2.

But they will have less call on one of the players who has been with them for around a year now.

Craig Sives is basically taking a step back from football but he will be available for the Blue Brazil if needed in the run in.

Following discussions between the club and Craig an agreement has been made which will involve Craig’s contract shortly being cancelled.

Craig signed a two year deal with Cowdenbeath last summer after having been a full-time footballer for many years.

He has though, found it difficult to adjust to part-time football and to readily reconcile his work patterns in his new day-to-day job with training and matchdays.

Craig anticipates that he will now likely hang up his boots albeit he is presently helping Cowden boss Liam Fox with some scouting visits and will stay registered with Cowden in ‘case of need’ for a few more weeks.

Director David Allan said: "We thank Craig for all his efforts on behalf of the club and wish him all the very best in the future once he leaves us. He will always be warmly welcomed back at Central Park."

Craig Sives was a regular in last season's side which failed to stay on Ladbrokes League One through losing in the relegation play-offs to Queen's Park.

Manager Liam Fox saw the towering centre-back as someone he wanted to be part of the challenge to get back up to League One but after starting most of the early games he had been a substitute for most of the second quarter of the campaign.

However, the club is pleased to now confirm that former Rangers and Aberdeen under 20s centre back Scott Rumsby has joined Cowdenbeath until the end of the season.

Scott has left Peterhead FC to join up at Central Park and the Blue Brazil welcome Liam Fox’s latest signing to the club. Prior to moving to Peterhead, Scott featured prominently for Stranraer for a couple of seasons.

Liam Fox completed his first new signing of the January transfer window on Wednesday by agreeing with Falkirk the transfer on loan to Central Park of young defender/midfielder, Liam Henderson.

Liam joined Falkirk at the start of the season after having spent a couple of years with Hearts where he had featured in their development side. Prior to that Liam was at Hutchinson Vale. Last season he had a short loan spell with Stenhousemuir.

At Falkirk, Liam has turned in some impressive midfield performances in their Development side. So, it is a very warm welcome to Central Park for Liam as the club looks to move forward in 2017.

Said Mr Fox: "I worked with Liam at Hearts when he was a youth and he is a good player with a good attitude and will do well for us.

"It is good to get Scott on board for he is a commanding figure and will boost our defence resources."

He was also very pleased to confirm that he has reached agreement with Hearts for Lewis Moore to continue on loan until the end of the season. This follows some outstanding from Lewis in his role of left wing back.
