A FIRST-HALF blitz saw Berwick run out comfortable winners in a Development League match which was switched to New Central Park, Kelty on Wednesday night, writes Andy Mullen.

It took the Borderers only nine minutes to open the scoring when Daniel WATT fired home from close range.

WATT then added a second goal with 29 minutes gone when he tapped home the rebound after Donoghue had parried a Hogg shot.

On the half hour Watt turned provider to send a diagonal pass to Stephen SCOTT to fire home a third goal for the visitors from eight yards.

As the first-half drew to a close Scott saw a header come off the bar before Ryan PORTEOUS shot home a fourth on the whistle.

After making three changes at the interval Cowden opened the second-half more brightly but went further behind in 68 minutes when Barry HOGG shot home at the second attempt after his initial effort had been blocked by Donoghue.

Then with two minutes remaining sub Ally McDONALD competed the scoring with a shot from the edge of the box which went in via the post.
