COWDEN boss Liam Fox gave his team a half-time rollicking on Saturday and he saw a much improved show after the break and now he wants the team to keep up the momentum in Saturday’s home William Hill Scottish Cup-tie with Lowland League East Kilbride Thistle.

A brave second-half performance saw the Blues turn the game on its ahead against Annan but the manager was not at all pleased with what he saw in the first 45 minutes.

Cowdenbeath hit back immediately after the re-start and then created chance after chance something they did not do in the first period.

To be honest Annan were not the greatest of sides but the home show in the first period gave them two goals to hang on to but after the break Cowden were all over them.

The introduction midway through the half of Nickolay Todorov made a real difference and it was fitting he slammed home the equaliser.

But the manager does not want his team to play as badly against Thistle this Saturday.

Said Mr Fox: “The first 45 minutes was simply awful. Again we contrived to give away the first goal through a bad error and the second was also avoidable and we created very little.

“We had a few words at the break about where we were going wrong and to their credit the lads went about things well after the interval and really we could have gone on to win the game.

“The thing is we did not collect the three points and that is disappointing for we need to win our home games.”

He added: “We were sharper and finding men with our passes and asking Annan all sorts of questions but now we have to take that on to the cup game with East Kilbride and into the coming league games.”

East Kilbride lead the Lowland league having won 11 out of 11 and have three former Cowden players in their ranks in Declan Hughes.

They have been winning well all season so the Cowden boss wants his team to start the tie the same way they finished against Annan.

He added: “They are a very useful side and are up their leading the Lowland League for a reason so we need to do all the right things from the first whistle this Saturday.

“We want to be in the hat for the next round for it is a very important competition for the club but we will only do that if we produce the quality of the second period against Annan.”

The manager seems certain to bring in big Nikolay Todorov for this one after his performance in the closing stages against Annan while Kyle Miller will also be a certainty after his all round performance against Annan.
