KELTY fighter Connor Law is inching closer to taking on a title fight after he chalked up another victory on Saturday.

The 23-year-old maintained his 100 per cent winning record since turning professional in 2014 at Grangemouth Sports Complex as he made light work of challenger Darryl Sharp.

Law was in imperious form against his Manchester-born opponent, dominating the bout from the outset with a performance that coach Stevie McGuire described as "a lesson".

The Glenrothes Boxing Club's star's latest success means his record now shows eight wins from eight fights, which includes two knock-outs, and that has led to McGuire suggesting that Law will be ready to contest a title bout next year.

He said: "Connor boxed really well and he gave the guy a lesson. He came to fight and there were a lot of over-hand rights but Connor wasn't too eager until the last round when he tried to stop him. We thought that the referee would stop it but the guy was saved by the bell. He did what we told him to do and Connor's technique is sky high.

"We're looking at a title fight for him next year, either for a Celtic or a Masters title, and he could step up and do 8-10 rounds. We are looking but we want him to box at super welterweight; middleweight is a hard division and we've only got 3-4 pounds that we'd need to shift from him. We have to get him to his strongest weight."

Law commented: "I believe it will come and will take it with both hands, but I'm training hard and taking it step by step. I'm having fun fighting and enjoy the buzz I get after it.

"He was a tough lad but I stepped up to the mark and put in the best performance that I could. I hurt my hand and foot but it's one of those things; I just got on with it and once the adrenaline kicked in I was alright. That's my eighth fight and I've not lost a round yet, which is good, and I've scored five knockdowns in my eight fights. I don't go for a KO - if it comes it comes - but it goes to show I am hitting hard."
