ALL three Cowdenbeath Babbs rinks won on Tuesday with Mick Heenan's rink winning 23-16 at home against Gordon Bruce from Inverkeithing, writes Jack High.

They were peels playing the last end and picked up a seven.

Lenny King had the 'insurance back bowl' so did not count. Rab Cant's rink had a more convincing win 21-6 against a Townhill rink and Lindsay Black's rink started their defence with a good, hard fought 13-8 win at Nethertown against George Rennie's rink, who won the trophy three years ago.

The West Fife first division league game at home against Inverkeithing was cancelled at a very late stage as the green was waterlogged on Wednesday.

This has been rescheduled for Tuesday night.

On Thursday Andy Johnstone lost 21-15 at Broad Street to a young Crossgates lad in the Fife singles, having been level at 15-15.

The triples did not adapt to the heavy conditions at Inverkeithing and lost.

The rink of Billy Allan, Lindsay Black, Peter Graham and Robert McFarlane had a very convincing win at Kirkcaldy West End against Kirkcaldy St Clair 23-7.

The St Clair rink conceded with four ends to play as there was no enjoyment in playing in the heavy rain whilst struggling on the heavy green.

The heavy rain made all the greens very heavy, which did not suit some of the touch players. The senior fours, skipped by Rab Cant, received a walk over as their opponents did not turn up for the game on Thursday afternoon.

On Saturday, Windygates were the visitors.

President Mitch Drysdale welcomed vice president Billy Warrender and the four mixed rinks.

Cowdenbeath had six rinks so one played for the visitors. Scores were as follows; R Cant 12 H Torrance 12, M Drysdale 21 B Warrender 5, D Leitch jnr 17 S Gardiner 5, L King 12 B Lamont 6, L Black 10 D Leitch snr (playing for Windygates) 10. Total Cowdenbeath 72 Windygates 38.

Sweep winners were highest up after 6 ends - M McKay D Hunt A Sommerville and Mitch Drysdale. For Windygates it was the Cowdenbeath ringers of C Somerville, R Lawson, D Duff and D Leitch senior. All sweep winnings went in the charity bottle. A lovely meal was served by the ladies. Rab Cant won the guess the bottle number competition. A good day was had by all.
