Albion Rovers 2, Cowdenbeath 1.

Ladbrokes League One.

Attendance-300 COWDENBEATH let this game slip from their grasp last night at Cliftonhill last night.

The Blues had taken the lead early in the second-half but they lost the equaliser shortly after and then the winner came midway through the period.

It meant a seventh defeat for Cowden on the road and the win at Stranraer seems a distant memory now.

Player/boss Colin Nish rung the changes after losing seven at Peterhead and in came Chris Kane, Declan Hughes and Fraser Kerr with Gordon Smith, Dean Brett and Liam Callaghan dropping out.

It meant that the team had a different shape to it but in the first period they did well enough and carved out a few chances.

Early in the game home 'keeper Ross Stewart came out and fired the ball against Greig Spence and had to scramble clear the danger.

At the other end a Josh Mullin cross was met by Ally Love but f rom 10 yards he shot wide then Hughes went close with a fierce shot.

In 25 minutes a Kyle Miller pass released Spence but he blasted over the bar and then Miller sent over a cross-cum-shot which rolled inches wide.

The second-half was only seconds old when Cowdenbeath went ahead. Andy Murdoch provided the pass and SPENCE chested the ball down before firing past Stewart from close in.

However, as has happened often this season the Blues conceded soon after. There was 50 minutes on the clock when a cross was not properly cleared and Mark Ferry set up former Cowden player Scott McBRIDE who had time to turn and shoot home.

This upset Coiwdenbeath's flow and Rovers started to have a lot more of the game and the Blues sent on Callaghan and Craig Johnston in a bid to stem the tide, but in 66 minutes the visitors were behind.

A Callum McMullan chip to the far post saw MULLIN totally unmarked a and he had a free header to put Albioon ahead.

Cowdenbeath tried to fight back and Kerr's 12 yarder went close and in the closing minutes Kenny Adamson hooked the ball just inches over the bar, but it all added up to another away defeat.
