EACH year the East Fife Indoor Bowling Club in Aberhill hosts the Disability Sport Fife (DSF) Indoor Bowls Championships for players with a learning disability.
Darryl Stewart from Cowdenbeath and Craig Donaldson from Central Fife CSS and Kinghorn BC were the stars of the Fife win in the Inter Area Test Match in Glasgow when they went through the competition undefeated in singles, pairs and triples.
They met in the final of the Scottish Disability Sport Lawn Bowls Championships in Aberdeen at the beginning of September with Craig retaining the national singles title.
At the East Fife Indoor Bowling Club they produced one of the most exciting Open indoor finals but on this occasion Darryl came out on top by 8-7. After three ends Craig led by 5-0 but by the seventh end the scores were level at 7-7. Craig was lying well in the deciding extra end until Darryl delivered his final bowl and snatched the win by 8-7. Undoubtedly one of the closest finishes in any DSF bowls tournament.
