AT last there has been some movement on the the Tesco site at the north end of High Street.

The town has been left in limbo since the supermarket chain announced they were withdrawing from building a store in Cowdenbeath.

Indeed, can I say that the state of the former football pitch at North End Park has been getting completely overgrown and a mess.

I remember reading something in the Times from the Cowdenbeath Area Committee where councillors had said at the beginning of the year that it was important that when the growing season began the grass should be kept in check.

Well that simply did not happen and what was at one time looking to be a big plus for the town has become a complete mess.

Let us hope that the new owners of the site do not hang around before they get something moving to improve the north end.

You see the consultants that have been engaged to come up with a new look for the town can do what they like in terms of ideas but if this site is left to deteriorate it will take the edge of anything created.

Now what new owners of North End Park will do with the site I do not know. In your article last week it was suggested that it will be some sort of ‘mixed’ arrangement, some retail, maybe some residential.

But whatever it is let us hope that it happens quickly because things are only going to get worse at what was a fine football facility.

NORTH ENDER, Cowdenbeath.
