Back to the land of the free, and the home of the brave. In my last letter I may have been somewhat harsh about all things American. Some good things come from there, films, actors, rock ‘n roll, JFK, Martin Luther King, singers (I’m a life-long Neil Diamond fan), but even his warm wonderful voice in the song ‘America’ (which he should have got the congressional medal of honour for) cannot hide the reality. America is racist!

Barack Obama said so on TV, in the wake of the latest atrocity, when would-be white supremacist/gun nut, Dylann Roof (where do they get the names?) gunned down nine black worshippers in a church.

He was caught. Why didn’t they shoot him down like a rabid dog? Oh wait, he was white!

The President, who was a friend of one of the murdered, also called for an end to the gun culture. You could hear the despair in his voice. He’s a black man and the President, and he can’t stop the racism and gun culture. Now this person will go on trial and he given a platform for his twisted views.

Under the US Constitution anyone and their dog can own a gun. Why? Jesse James and gang are long dead, there are no gunslingers any more, and they are hardly likely to get attacked by native Americans. Can’t a constitution be changed?

On the subject of racism and native Americans, another tribe has taken the US Government to the Supreme Court. This started 20 years ago, when the Seminole people were awarded 150 million dollars over the rights to the Everglades.

Since then, several other tribes have successfully taken the US to court and won! On the subject of the Confederate flag (which the murderer had) it is a symbol of slavery and should be banned on pain of imprisonment! To all you rednecks, get over yourselves, you lost! A year after the South lost the war, the Ku Klux Klan was formed, 150 years ago in Tennessee, later making Alabama their base. At its height it had six million members.

In 1956 Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and South Carolina signed the ‘Southern Manifesto’ opposing integration of whites and blacks who won the civil war?). Recently seven black people’s churches have been burned (land of the free?). Aye right!

They have been caught with their pants down again spying on the French Prime Minister.

Does anyone doubt they are also spying on us? Time Obama grew a pair, and stamped all this out, instead of trying to be the showbiz couple.

I was briefly touched by him singing ‘Amazing Grace’ at his friend’s funeral, but, coupled with his wife, publicly dancing to ‘Funk you up’ (and boy, can she dance!) raises questions.

In 1978 the CIA were suspected of the assassination of Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro. They were also suspected of rigging the Italian elections. Nothing was proved.

If the CIA had a motto, it would have come straight out of Ballingry, ‘It wasnae me!’.

They, the CIA, and military take credit for the concept of ‘covert ops’. Japan’s greatest Ninja, Hattori Hanzo, will be birling in his grave (if they could find it!). All special forces covert ops training, in every country, is based on the Ninja.

The best is our own SAS. Let the Americans dispute that. They won’t! Obama has conceded that ISIL is the greatest threat to freedom, not Russia, China, or North Korea, just what I’ve been saying for two years!

Now they are, as I write this, celebrating Independence Day.

They don’t have a lot to celebrate. How are they (and us) going to defeat them? Air strikes are not working, the Iraq and Syrian armies don’t have the stomach for a fight.

Time for boots on the ground (again) but not just us and the US but the whole of NATO.

Go in and exterminate them before it turns into an all-out war between Muslims and Christians, like 500 years ago. We, the Christian countries, slaughtered Muslims in the Crusades. Now they are doing it to us. This is what ISIL wants. If they want a fight, let’s bloody well give them one, and stop dithering!

In the words of John Rambo, “Nothing is over!”. Rambo First Blood was a true story, an indictment of how America treated their Vietnam veterans. The follow up films were nonsense. Why were they treated so? They didn’t win! Let’s do this right, and win it!

BILL BISHOP, Ballingry.
