CLEARLY everyone in Cardenden would like to see the blight on the landscape that the derelict shop at the entrance to the railway station is, removed ASAP.
And while the Scottish Parliament has passed new legislation which can allow local authorities to step in to clear the dereliction and charge reluctant property owners, this sounds easier than it actually is.
The property under the microscope has to conform with certain parameters for it to be tackled under the new legislation and it really is almost a last ditch avenue.
So it could be that some time in the future this blight will be able to be demolished under the new regulations but it could be that this is too soon for that.
But make no mistake this is not the sort of sight you want people to see entering Cardenden from the railway station and hopefully some way will be found to get rid of it sooner rather than later.
