NORTH End Park has been part of Cowdenbeath’s history for over a century.
It was the home of Cowdenbeath FC in the early years and then had a greyhound track around it and over the past four decades has been home to several local football teams.
So it is a historic feature of the town but it was supposed to have disappeared to house the Tesco Superstore only for the retail giant to withdraw at the last minute.
Quite rightly local councillors are concerned what the future holds for this part of the town because the shop facilities at the north end of High Street have disappeared.
It is rumoured that Tesco has sold the site and as it only has planning consent for retail use it could be that it will be used for some sort of shopping facility.
Over the next few months the future of North End Park will become clearer, but meantime it is a waiting game.
