AS someone who lives in Cowdenbeath, I was interested in the roadworks article.

Could someone please tell me why private companies are being given the work instead of council employees who are being paid off?

Is this really a Labour run council or is it a Tory in charge as all the work seems to be going to private companies, and by the way, the last time work was being carried out at the entrance to the Morrisons Store, the company in question couldn’t even work the traffic lights! In fact there was no traffic control unless it was the man in a very deep hole who kept sticking his head up every now and again. Traffic management or death wish?

My sister lives in Crosshill and she says council workmen had been working there and were directing traffic by hand and stop and go signs.

She said that some of the drivers were shouting dog’s abuse at the men. Obviously some people don’t know the difference between stop and go. Ignorance is bliss.

With the General Election approaching would people still vote Labour if this is an example of how the workers are being treated?

I don’t see anyone coming out in defence of council workmen. As for their budget, well perhaps the White Elephant, known as Bankhead, has done more harm than good.

A case of too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Roll on the General Election!
