CLEARLY the 4Winds Trust is an important mechanism for supporting voluntary organisations in Cowdenbeath, Lumphinnans, Lochgelly and Auchtertool.

These are the four communities that the Little Raith Wind Farm is closest too and the community fund is geared to backing organisations in them.

It is disappointing that not more of the £12,000 available per quarter has been utilised by local community organisations for there must be plenty out there that could benefit from the fund.

Perhaps the 4Winds Trust has not been advertised as well is it could have been but the opportunity is there for groups such as scouts, bands and gala day committees to tap into the community fund and get much needed funding.

And if the much talked about Little Raith extension goes ahead this will increase and there will be a lot more a quarter available.

Currently groups and good causes are available to apply for a maximum of £1000, so the message is if you are a community organisation or a good cause, approach the Trust, it could be that it will back you.
