WHATEVER happens with the Crown Hotel things are indeed going to change in Cowdenbeath in 2015.

The town was going to see two new stores, now only one is set to arrive, while the new community centre, in Stenhouse Street, will be taking shape along with the skate park, near Central Park.

These will all be significant moves to improve the town and its facilities and I would think it will make the centre of Cowdenbeath more attractive.

Clearly the loss of the Tesco store development, at North End Park, is going to leave the north end of High Street going short and one blight may still remain there and that is the Crown. Despite efforts from councillors on the Area Committee, the local MSP and business people, the owners of the building seem reluctant to part with it unless it is for housing purposes.

Surely six years on from the fire which created the situation, the time is right for something to be done.
