WINTER brings with it many problems for people and one of these is how streets and pavements are kept clear of snow and ice.

Fife Council, two weeks ago, made it clear that they have been investing money on getting salt stocks and equipment ready for anything the elements can throw at us.

But our jury members do air concerns about how the Cowdenbeath area is affected when the weather turns cold.

What the winter of 2014-2015 holds for us no one knows but the one thing it is unlikely to be is as kind as last winter.

The lack of snow and ice was a feature of it but it is likely that this winter is going to be that bit harsher.

Hopefully the council will be as good as its word and the roads and pavements will be tackled as quickly as possible.

But the thing is that the residents of the streets of Cowden-Gelly can play their own part in making the environment as decent as possible by clearing any snow that falls from pavements and putting down salt to get rid of ice.

By doing that you can go along way to making local pavements that bit easier for pedestrians while hopefully the local authority will be on its game as far as roads arre concerned.
