‘RECENTLY I have been working on Sports Councils in the constituency as Sport was a large part of my manifesto on which I was elected two years ago.

After discovering there is currently a sports council already covering the areas of Lochgelly and Cowdenbeath, I have spoken with fellow MSYPs on the Sport and Leisure Committee and we have decided that I should continue to work on a sports council in the area.

However, this would be entirely youth led and would still have two main targets: to engage as many young people as possible in sport and to promote minority sports that some people may never have heard of.

This would also aim to encourage young people to use the new facilities and make the most of any opportunities in the area such as the new cycle way from Lochore Meadows or new equipment in schools.

I have also recently been gathering opinions on what young people would like to see improved ready to create my manifesto for the next elections that take place in March next year.

As well as ensuring my constituents’ voices are heard I would also work to the Scottish Youth Parliament’s five main objectives.

These are to ensure that young people are represented nationally, all young people are involved, young people are recognised as key contributors to Scottish society, young people lead the way through opportunities and training, and the final is celebrating democracy.

Finally I would like to wish everyone Merry Christmas and a happy new year!’
