AT a time when regeneration is taking a full grip in Lochgelly, it is pretty disappointing to have the town nominated for the Plook of the Plinth award.

Yes there are still a lot of problems in the town, despite the investment that has been plied into it over the past few years through a series of moves piloted by Fife Council.

But the fact is that currently £6m is being plied into making the former mining town that bit more attractive with a lot of good facilites.

The current site of the town house and its surrounds does look bleak just now but that will, over the coming months, be turned into a new housing complex and town square.

The other projects will also be making a difference to the town so while it is currently not looking at its best, that will be set to change dramatically by 2016.

So while the detractors may enjoy this current ‘lower point’ in the town’s history it will be changing very much for the better.
