IT was with much sadness that I heard the result of the Scottish vote for Independence.

A feeling of depression set in and the dread of not being around to see Scotland as an independent nation.

In trying to analyse it all, I came to the conclusion that the 1,600,000 who voted YES were to be saluted. They stood against the whole might of the British media and the big guns from Westminster.

They were bullied and blackmailed by the banks and big businesses’ with the threat of job losses and higher prices. They can be proud of their principled stand and ideals for a free and more just Scotland.

Hopefully the YES voters will have taken stock of Labour in the same bed as the Tories and no doubt Labour MP’s were in fear of losing their jobs in Westminster.

It was great to see Cowdenbeath man Dennis Canavan in the vanguard of the YES campaign. Dennis is a great stalwart of working class struggles and a fighter for justice worldwide and also a proud son of Cowdenbeath.

A little thought in ending, “Don’t ask what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country”. (JFK) “Lochaber No More”, the dream goes on.
