DEAR Sir, I feel I must respond to the item in your paper this week.

I have been a resident in Cardenden for fifty six years, and have endured the pollution of the atmosphere from the pits, and the terrible pollution from Westfield gas works - the smell was appalling, This seems to have been conveniently forgotten about. Next we had the opencast, leaving a very dangerous derelict site.

What comes next, the village is surrounded by wind turbines, nice one, clean air, many do not like them, but this is still under debate. Then comes biomass, not yet in the village, that is still to come, with associated storage utilising, goodness knows how much storage for use.

Now we come to the dumping ground for Glenrothes, wood piled sky high, which causes innumerable problems to the residents of the village, but the powers that be do not want to know.

What is this village some kind of industrial dump, next thing we will know we shall be nominated for fracking, great stuff.

Having experienced past contamination and with other threats pending we will not stand for it being contaminated any more. Mr Garmory, Fife Council you now have a fight on your hands.

VERY ANNOYED RESIDENT, Cardenden.
