‘It’s been an exciting and busy few weeks for me.

I have been working hard establishing bases for my surgeries throughout the Cowdenbeath area. I held my first surgery last week, at Bowhill Centre, and In the next few weeks I shall be holding surgeries in the various towns and villages within the constituency.

My next surgery will be held at Broad Street Centre, Cowdenbeath, on the 14th September from 4pm til 5pm. For those thinking of coming or those who don’t know what a surgery is, it is just a one to one meeting with myself where you can discuss any problems or concerns you have about where you stay.

From that I will either tell you what the solution may be or I can get in contact with youth workers or councillors and get back to you when I have a solution.

All my surgeries will be advertised in and around the community centres that they will be held. I will also try to get information into the school bulletins too.

I am busy preparing for the next sitting of the Scottish Youth Parliament to be held in North Inch Community Campus, Perth, over the weekend of the 4th and 5th of October.

Issues being discussed at the sitting will include the Regulation of legal highs, that all sports centres should include shower curtains and shower cubicles in all changing rooms to respect the privacy of users, the impact of high car insurance on young people as well as resources and information to encourage young women to pursue high level positions in public and private institutions, to name just a few.

This will be my last column before the Referendum takes place on September 18th. May I take this opportunity to encourage all young people aged 16 and over to PLEASE VOTE and ensure that your views are heard in respect of this huge decision being taken’.
