THOUGH not a collector of statistics, I’m frankly surprised that those who voted in Scotland was as high as 62 per cent at the last Westminster election, as your anonymous ‘onliner’ declares, concerning the article ‘Low turnout favours SNP’.
He or she selectively chooses not to give a split of party break-down of the 62 per cent who actually voted.
It would be interesting to know, for example, what percentage of the 62 per cent voted Labour and what percentage voted SNP.
Whatever the split, I would maintain, it’s hardly demonstrative of a unified democratic block, will or wish of the nation as a whole, as I have already made plain and it is also illustrative of the remaining 2/5ths (38 per cent) apathy towards the broken promises of politicians, a factor no doubt which has helped to contribute to the present Parliamentary Coalition which the canvassing ‘onliner’ bewails.
