As a follow up to last weeks letter, I would like to get back to the Dallas Doyle issue. As the vandalism appears to get worse as the summer comes in as does the light nights.
It usually appears to be the teenagers that are doing whatever they can to cause chaos in the community. Imagine my disbelieve on Monday Evening (19-04-2010) as I was about to contact the Fire Brigade because a fire had been started down Dallas Doyle park right next to the entrance to Kirktoun Park.
I could not believe my eyes to find two residents from the street were calmly having a chin wag as the fire they had started blazed and the children of the street played excitedly.
The two residents appeared to be burning an old shed which obviously had no further use to them and it was probably too much hassle to get it lifted by the council or take it to the recycling plant.
The remains were then left unattended and discarded for the council to clean up along with the broken glass and dogs dirt.
The young kids in the street have to restrict themselves playing in the street because the park is more often than not a no go area.
So, before jumping up and down blaming the young teenagers for the mess in our parks, spare a thought to the reality of the matter. Look out your window - the evidence is there.
Concerned Resident.
