Your headline of 25th March, 'Eyesore goes but much still to be done' could not have summed the whole thing up better.
Yes the Meedies Neuk building has gone but what is going to replace it, I would imagine nothing in the short term.
It is likely to remain a gap site at a very important place in the entrance to the Benarty area.
Most people enter the Lochore Meadows Country Park complex through passing this site so it would be in the interests of everyone if this was to be beautified in some way.
Even if it was planted out in some way in the short term it would make a real difference, rather than it remaining a barren gap site.
But then there are plenty of other areas in Benarty needing attention. None are as important as the former Neuk site but if we are to be serious about improving the amenity of the district then these have to be tackled,
Certainly the upgrading of King George V Park in Crosshill is to be welcomed. This is a former hub of sporting life in Benarty.
Football and cricket were the games that were played there while the pavilion has been a major landmark up on the hill for decades.
Benarty Forum are the real power behind the project to upgrade the park and I am pretty sure they will succeed.
We need the same determination to ensure that the other projects that are needed are put in place.
NEUKER, Crosshill.
