Vico Properties seem to be determined to go through with their plan to get a supermarket in Cowdenbeath.
They are currently going through a consultation process on their proposals for a store at North End Park.
Now the proposal is very interesting in as much as it would move the football teams that play at North End to a complex at Lumphinnans.
But I have heard that not all the teams involved are keen on giving up their pitch at North End. The store, if given the go-ahead, could mark the end for other store ideas for the Lochgelly area.
I mean could the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area really have enough business to support three or four major outlets in the immediate vicinity.
The Lochgelly suggestions for the former Fabtec site and Auchterderran Road are probably less controversial than the Vico proposal as it will not see a football park swallowed up by the move.
While there are many concerns over the plan for the former Fabtec site there are less over the possible siting of a store at the former Weathermac factory in Auchterderran Road.
This plan also has a petrol station included, something that Lochgelly badly lacks, indeed Benarty and Cardenden also lack a filling station.
So it could be that the Auchterderran Road plan would be the one which brings out the least opposition.
Whether that would influence the Cowdenbeath Area Committee I do not know but in the not too distant future the committee may well have three store plans before them.
SUPER STORE, Cowdenbeath.
