The hullabaloo about parking problems in Lochgelly is indeed justified.
In normal times parking can be at a premium in centre of the town, but with the recent roadworks in Bank Street, things have got a whole lot worse.
Since the car parking area was removed with the demolition of Bolan Square and Dryburgh Place about 30 places have gone from the provision in this part of Lochgelly.
The loss of this very handy parking place has made life for the motorist wanting to use the shops in Bank Street very hard indeed.
It often sees people parking on the double yellow lines in Bank Street and Knockhill Close which can cause a real build up of vehicles.
And things are not much easier down at the Lochgelly Centre car park which can be full with people seeking spaces in the street.
The Co-op car park is often populated by people who may have gone to the store before going elsewhere in the centre of the town.
All in all the loss of the 30 parking spots behind Bank Street has been very difficult for the town to absorb.
You would have thought that when such a parking place had to be removed the authorities would have found a replacement somewhere.
Now a store in the centre of Lochgelly without enough parking places would just make the situation untenable.
But then I am sure the local councillors will be aware of this and ensure that the store, if it is built, will have more than enough parking space.
PARKER, Lochgelly.

I can travel from Lumphinnans to Stationhead road
in 25 mins passing bank street in about 15 mins
So to walk to the co op then home takes me 30 mins
which means at least 60 percent of the population
of lochgelly can do it in the same time or less.
