I get the Central Fife Times sent to me every week and I cannot help but notice one thing.
That is all the complaints about buildings being demolished, and all the long drawn out alternatives by the local council.
I also notice that each personality tries in their own way to praise Cowdenbeath. But no-one ever follows up on it.
Around 2005-2006, I managed to obtain copy of a manuscript in book form, which is full of photos, describing the comparisons with now and 100 years ago.
The second part I really loved. Called 'Second Sight'.
This showed up the buildings and all the marvellous markings/symbols etc on the walls. There was so much to learn and also so much to see I never realised.
This manuscript was put into a CD form so the author could give it all to people who would have to print it out themselves or watch it on computer and/or some TVs.
It was filled with gorgeous photos never taken before.
The main purpose of this at that time, five years ago, was to Promote, Praise, Protect and keep their Pride in Cowdenbeath (the four 'P's).
If more people had read these sets of books they would have been more aware in advance.
I know of no-one who would have done this over such a long period of time and paid all the costs herself, and then even offered it to the local authority, who refused, as the lady in question would not sell it as books afterwards.
She wanted the information and the written word and all the research to go to the people, but free.
This was more important to her than anything, the priority being of leaving a truthful legacy for the future generations.
I read the Times and study all that is said carefully.
This lady saw back then as she was writing the set of books, how it was going to end up. I have also seen her write regularly about the Pit Road toilets.
She was right with all in her books. Perhaps the council is too afraid for them to be published, as these are not very complimentary to them.
But for all she has done for Cowdenbeath, and all she is still doing, let me say a big thank you on behalf of all those who love their town.
Thank you for the DVD, also concerning the Pit Road toilets. The emotion was overwhelming, the photos and songs together just made sense. What a pity this lady is not in politics.
I will not mention her name, but all will know her from her good works. Good works? The type the council do not believe in.
A ROBBINS,
Dunfermline.
