Dear 'Disgruntled' of Cardenden, thank you for pointing out some of the things that you feel need attention in and around Cardenden.
We are especially concerned about your comment that the burn which runs along the Golf Course is a health hazard. The Environmental Health department should be informed as soon as possible and the necessary tests carried out. Have you contacted them?
As regards the garage 'in dire need of demolition', we understand that the Local Authorities can point out to owners that their property is in need of attention, but until it is actually dangerous, they cannot take action. There are several properties in the area in this situation.
The 'clean up' of the Jamphlars Pond has not been abandoned. Money has been allocated to clean it up, but this is dependant on the Council laying a pipe to pump contaminated water from Woodend to the Westfield site. Once this is complete the pond and burn should improve.
Speed bumps were installed as part of a Fife-wide project by the Transportation Department to reduce the speed of vehicles in built-up areas.
Heavy vehicles do make a noise as they drive over them. The Transportation Department would be very happy to hear of other ways of managing the speed of traffic.
As you have been a resident for 60 years, I am sure you would be able to help improve the appearance of the area.
The Community Council and the Environment Group would appreciate your help in identifying key problems, writing letters to appropriate departments and keeping up the 'pressure' until something is done.
Please leave your contact details at the Local Services Office. It is really good to know that you are interested in the appearance of the area. We need a lot more folk like yourself who are prepared to do something.
CHERRY McINTYRE, Cardenden Environment Group.

Do you know what stage the clean up is at?
The last I heard these greedy farmer/landowners had effectively put a stop to that project.
Cheers
