Road repairs concern

In 2009, sometime before the snow storms, Fife Council officials hired a private contractor to repair the roads in Fife.

To save money on road repairs the officials allowed the contractor to spray many of the road surfaces with wet tarmac and stone chips and hand fill the hundreds of pot holes on the roads in Fife with tarmac.

Due to the heavy traffic on the roads and before the December snow storms, many of the pot holes reappeared, proving once again the incompetence of Fife Council when spending ratepayers money.

Six weeks after the snow storms in January 2010 when heavy rain washed away the snow and ice from the patched up tarmac pavements, we can now see the damage to them caused by the small tractors shovels trying to clear the snow and ice from the pavements when it was too late to do so.

Now that we know that the road and pavement repairs were a waste of time and money, the question on everyone's lips is how are Fife Council going to improve them and who is going to pay for them?

One thing that must improve is the quantity of the tarmac.

DAVID KINNELL,

The Avenue, Lochgelly.
