Someone will have to make very difficult decisions

Comments (1) | Print | Email

Conservative leader Mr Cameron calls for "a clean election fight" whilst describing Britain as a "broken society". Yet he and other political leaders join "coalition mode thinking" queuing up to express support for "priorities, difficult decisions, none negotiable cuts, an age of austerity" of ten years or so, for the British population.

It is all the fault of the "economic blizzard" created by the "New Capitalism" system we all live under, the pundits say.

We in Fife have just emerged from a recent ice and snow "blizzard", a five or six week winter crisis which seems to have revealed the effects of the new "prioritising and efficiency" policy of Fife Council.

We sincerely hope, this "priority" policy re main roads, and residential areas, will not be indicative of the "priorities" and "difficult decisions" policies "coming down the line" from National and local government, as promised by Mr Cameron, Mr Brown et al?

What are the MPs and MSPs doing about it? Welcome they are, to visit in the aftermath of the near paralysis of Fife's essentials, but shouldn't they be agreeing to meet on a regular basis (if not done already), on a "need to know", consultative, basis with Fife Council, Fife Health Board, Fife Police Force, businesses, voluntary, professional bodies, trades unions etc.

In a recent visit to New Zealand, Prince William spoke to his audiences saying our "shared heritage was important".

To the many people who look to Scotland and BT, for guidance and leadership, he also said, "It is also about courage and an ability to face down adversity". What are the MSPs and MPs doing about "Saving Fife" from the oncoming crisis?

If, for a start, there is to be an inquiry about the 5-6 week cold snap crisis, shouldn't the Fife public be invited to give evidence and their experience?
