Local councillor John Simpson was quite right to highlight the poor state of Cowdenbeath High Street.
Some of the holes that have emerged during the really cold weather have been a major concern for drivers.
Some of them went down three or four inches and needed swift attention before these became quite dangerous.
But can I say that while the High Street is bad it is not the only street in Cowdenbeath needing attention.
Now Stenhouse Street was showing real signs of wear before the cold weather arrived and now it is a very rough road.
It is not only holes that have appeared through the weather that pose a threat to car wheels, it is areas around sleeping policemen that are breaking away from the main structure of the mound that can pose a problem for the driver and manhole covers that seem to have dropped down an inch or two.
Added to that there are stretches of the surface that have lost the top cover leaving the street having a very patchy look for a main thoroughfare on a bus route.
So yes carry out upgrading work on the High Street, because it is the busiest street in the town, but do not forget Stenhouse Street which is only going to get worse unless there is a maintenance programme this year.
The whole street needs a resurfacing but that maybe something the transportation budget of Fife Council cannot back.
MANHOLE, Cowdenbeath.
