I was very interested to read the article in the issue of 7th January about the latest on the Meedies Neuk saga.
This seems to have been going on for years and the building, or should I say, what is left of it, is still in a prominent place in Crosshill dominating the eyeline.
Now to me it would seem that Councillor Alex Rowley has come up with a pretty fair solution to the situation which sees coming and going on all sides.
Certainly it would seem that it is going to be some time before developer Mr Sneddon is going to be in a position to start building on the site.
Things would seem to be getting better on the property scene but it is a slow process and as far as shell of Meedies Neuk is concerned it really needs to be dealt with sooner rather than later.
So Alex Rowley's idea of recycling the planning gain cash to allow the clearance of the site to take place seems a good one.
It would mean that Mr Sneddon is not out of pocket and the site would be cleared to everyone's benefit.
Surely public safety is paramount and despite the council's building control feeling that the wrecked building is safe I would agree with councillor Willie Clarke that it surely presents a danger, especially to youngsters.
So I hope that the powers at be agree and move ahead with the Labour leader's suggestion.
FORMER NEUKER, Crosshill
