THERE are no doubt that there are problems with dumping getting worse and worse in our neck of the woods.

That piece the Times had about improvements being carried out in Cardenden was good news.

The mess caused by folk just throwing down rubbish instead of putting it in a bucket really is something that is totally wrong.

The changing of times for the recycling centres in Cowdenbeath and Lochgelly have caused their own problems and the closures for two days has seen folk simply leave their rubbish at the gate.

Now maybe that is better than simply throwing it into the countryside but by the same token it is fine if there is no wind, but if there is a gale blowing the rubbish can find itself heading over the fields.

For me there are a number of problems that are continuing to cause issues.

People became used to being able to go to the recycling centres at a time which suited them to dump their rubbish but all of a sudden things changed.

Too many take the easy way out and simply dump things in the countryside. That is so wrong.

They really need to find the time that the recycling centre is open that fits in with their arrangements and drop their rubbish off then.

By carelessly discarding it they are really breaking the law and that is not good.

However, maybe Fife Council can look at how their plan to change the opening arrangements of the recycling centres has been accepted by the public.

There must be people who are looking at how that is developing so perhaps there can be changes made to the opening times that can assist what is going on.

Getting back to Cardenden, it just showed what can be done by a hit team and maybe more of thee hits are needed all over the district!
