THE people should be worried about kids setting fires.

Mercifully the efforts of whoever has been trying to set up St Joseph's Primary School, in Kelty, have failed miserably but you have to ask why are they doing this.

Are they former pupils who are unhappy with the way they were treated at the school? Who knows.

The thing is that if the school had caught fire it could have caused serious damage and the school's pupils would have been coming back after the holidays and probably heading for the Moray Institute.

The councillor and emergency services people are totally right about the dangers. The people could be damaging their own health by their efforts.

I can remember you carrying a story last year about people setting wheelie bins up in flames in the Cowdenbeath Community Woodland and people worried about it setting the whole forest up.

But last year the weather was so awful that could not happen, had they tried this summer that could have seen a good bit of woodland damaged with everything being so very dry.

It is certainly not something that anyone should encourage and hopefully the plans to speak to school children will work, for if you get them early enough kids will learn that this is not something that you should do.

If the educational approach works this should see kids less likely to cause problems with this sort of behaviour, but you never know.

We have seen situations in other areas where a bit of naughty fun has seen buildings ruined but hopefully we will be lucky enough to avoid that sort of thing.

FIRE WATCH,

Stenhouse Street,

Cowdenbeath.
