TWO stories in your Times of last week really underlined the community spirit in the Benarty area.

The first one was about how Marguerite Henderson was stunned by the backing she has got from the community since her terrible illness struck and the other was the work that was done to create a new surface on the car park at the Welfare car park in Crosshill.

The problems that Marguerite has had to put up with since she sustained that cut all these months ago have been unbelievable.

All the photos that I have seen has her looking very relaxed and enjoying the various events she has been able to attend.

Her family are doing a great job in trying to make things as good as they can for her and hopefully the way ahead for her will be a good one.

The generosity of the Benarty public has spilled beyond the boundaries of the district and the rest of the Cowdenbeath area has also joined in to help.

The Welfare car park has been a big problem for a long time and to get the job done which was organised by the Benarty Fundraisers would have been very difficult for the Welfare.

The club has hit a bit of an upward cure of late and the people rallying around has been great to see.

For these lads to give up their Trades Holiday to do the job was brilliant and they deserve a big round of applause.

The club would never have been able to afford the job that has been done but the car park now has a top class surface which will stand the test of time.

No doubt we will hear of more great community events in Benarty as the year continues and it will be no surprise.
